Lowell Five Bank said it moved its flagship branch in downtown Lowell from 34 John St. to a building at 60 Fletcher St., formerly owned by McKittrick Industrial Supply.
The bank said it can have the opportunity to be a part of the urban revitalization in the Hamilton Canal District in Lowell.
“We are excited to have a location in a corridor of Lowell that is being revitalized and to participate in the transformation,” Alison Kalman, Lowell Five executive vice president and chief banking officer, said in a statement.
The relocated branch in the brick building will have accessibility up to the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a community meeting room and can be easily accessible by public transportation, the bank said.
The building, which was over 170 years old, was purchased in the 1930s by Frank McKittrick, the original owner of McKittrick Industrial Supply, and kept in the family until the business closed in 2019.
Lowell Five has 15 branch locations serving the communities in and around the city of Lowell.
