Next month, Boston-based Medical Area Federal Credit Union (MAFCU) is co-sponsoring a 10-hour, first-time homebuyers course with Nuestra Comunidad Development Corp.

When participants complete all 10 hours of the course over four dates in September, they will receive a certificate good for three years which may help with down payments and closing costs, the credit union said.

The course will be held on September 7, 14, 21, and 28 at the MASCO building at 375 Longwood Ave. in Boston, in the fifth floor conference room, from 4:30 to 7 pm. There is a $30 fee for those registering through MAFCU; the fee is returned to participants after they have finished the course.
