The first phase of a 50,000-square-foot cannabis cultivation and production facility is expected to break ground this spring in Medway.
Following last week’s approval of final local permits, NEO Alternatives will move ahead with design and engineering for the first 29,000-square-foot phase of the project, which is scheduled to begin operation in 2021.
NEO completed the $2 million acquisition of the 6.7-acre property at 4 Marc Road on Thursday.
The location is the company’s first in Massachusetts. NEO Alternatives selected the location because of its proximity to major highways, access to major population centers and potential to expand on the 6.7-acre site, Neo Alternatives Executive Vice President Jaime Lewis said.
Designs by Cambridge-based Anderson Porter Design call for a mix of cultivation areas, manufacturing space for edibles and topicals and extraction equipment for concentrates.
Neo Alternatives launched in 2019 and is awaiting approval of its provisional license from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, Lewis said.
