Mashpee-based MEZ Realty Inc. has been fined $7,000 by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) for drinking water violations.
MassDEP found that MEZ Realty repeatedly failed to maintain a minimum residual water pressure at Lakeside Estates, a 90-unit manufactured home park residency located at 300 Nathan Ellis Highway in Mashpee, according to a statement. MEZ Realty must also replace 125 feet of water distribution pipe by Dec. 1. MassDEP has agreed to suspend $3,000 of the penalty provided MEZ Realty fully complies with all the terms.
"MEZ Realty needs to understand that they operate a water supply system, not just a mobile home park, and as such, they operate with certain responsibilities to those residents that cannot be ignored," said David Johnston, director of MassDEP’s southeast regional office in Lakeville. "William R. Haney, as the principal of MEZ Realty, needs to address the repeated water pressure complaints from the residents of Lakeside Estates, who are entitled to adequate service."
