The $6.2 billion-asset Middlesex Savings Bank is opening a new branch in Worcester, its first location in Central Massachusetts.
The full-service branch has 4,200-square feet of office space located at 286 Grove St. The bank said it has an ATM, drive-up lanes, safe deposit boxes and a loan production office. It will be open from Monday to Saturday.
The new branch will be managed by Andrew Sherry, vice president and branch manager, who has been with Middlesex Savings since 2005. He will head a multilingual team of bankers to assist the diverse community in Worcester.
“On behalf of the entire team at Middlesex Savings Bank, we are honored to open our first branch in the vibrant city of Worcester,” Middlesex Savings CEO Michael McAuliffe said in a statement. “As a mutual bank, we operate without shareholders so that we can do business in a way that puts our customers and communities first. This formula has served us well for 188 years. As we open our doors to you – we thank you, Worcester, for welcoming us so warmly.”
The bank said it has existing relationships with the communities in Worcester – customers, businesses, and nonprofit organizations – even before the opening of its new branch. The branch will expand the bank’s relationships in the area and serve personal and banking needs in the city.
The bank is offering promotions for the opening of the Worcester branch, including a free checking account plus a $200 benefit for qualifying activity, three-month certificates of deposit with a 5.25 percent annual percentage yield, and donations to local nonprofits for each account opening.
Middlesex Savings has 32 branches mostly in the suburbs of the Greater Boston area outside of Boston City proper.
