More than 350,000 Massachusetts homes and businesses remain without power days after an October nor’easter dumped more than two feet of snow in some areas.
National Grid reports Tuesday morning that about 228,000 of its more than 1.2 million customers in the state remain without electricity. Hampden County communities including Wilbraham and East Longmeadow are among the hardest hit.
Western Massachusetts Electric Co. reports that about 93,000 of its 212,000 customers don’t have electricity. Nearly half of Springfield is still blacked out. Peru, which had the most snow in the state at 32 inches, was not reporting any outages.
About 28,000 NStar customers don’t have power, while roughly 9,000 of Unitil’s Massachusetts customers are without electricity.
Utility officials say it could be several days before everyone is back online. (AP)
