A Nantucket compound has gone under agreement that, if sold at the asking price, would represent the most expensive home in Massachusetts history.
68 and 72 Monomoy Road was being offered for $42 million; Lee Real Estate has the listing.
The Wall Street Journal reported the controversial head of media company Barstool, Dave Portnoy, is the buyer.
According to records filed in the Nantucket Registry of Deeds, only 72 Monomoy Road has been sold so far, trading hands on Sept. 29 for $27 million. An LLC controlled by Nantucket law firm Glidden & Brescher P.C. was the buyer.
Town property records say the 1n759-square-foot 68 Monomoy Road was built in 2016 along with a 1,098-square-foot pool house and guest quarters. The 3,187-square-foot 72 Monomoy Road was built at the same time. Together, the two properties take up 1.2 acres.
The Lee Real Estate listing describes the two properties as possessing “180 degree harbor and town views from every vantage point” and said the homes were designed by Andrew Kotchen fro Workshop APD. The Wall Street journal reported that the property includes an underground tunnel between some of the buildings.
The current record-holder among Massachusetts residential properties is 20-22 Berkeley Road, also on Nantucket. That home sold for $38.13 million in July.
