Mount Vernon Company plans to reposition a downtown Plymouth hotel following an acquisition that expands its hospitality portfolio to four Massachusetts properties.

The Boston-based developer acquired the John Carver Inn & Spa from Lexington-based Ankur Hospitality on June 10 for $14 million, according to a Plymouth County deed.

The 25 Summer St. property was originally developed in 1969 and most recently updated in 2021, according to Mount Vernon Co. It includes 80 guest rooms, a spa, indoor pool, meeting and event space and restaurant.

The hotel will remain open while Mount Vernon Co. plans renovations including updated interiors, new amenities and “elevated dining.”

“Our goal is to bring a fresh perspective to this asset and create a hospitality experience that reflects both the heritage and evolving future of Plymouth,” Mount Vernon Co. Founder and Chairman Bruce Percelay said in a statement.

Mount Vernon Co. also owns the Revolution Hotel in Boston and two Nantucket hotels: 76 Main Ink Press Hotel and the 21 Broad and 19 Broad property.

Olympia Hospitality of Portland, Maine will manage the Plymouth property.

Ruberto, Israel & Weiner’s commercial real estate team, led by Michael Rosen, represented Mount Vernon in the transaction. JLL Managing Director Alan Suzuki and Senior Director Enright represented the seller.
