A 1,200-seat Picture Show at SouthCoast Marketplace has set a Friday opening date, including an inaugural showing at 9:45 a.m., bringing a movie theater back to Fall River for the first time in a decade.

Cambridge-based CEA Group acquired the struggling New Harbour Mall in 2012 and has been redeveloping it into an open-air shopping center with 26 retailers, restaurants and service providers, including Fall River’s first Starbucks. The 350,000-square-foot SouthCoast Marketplace at Route 24 and William Canning Boulevard is anchored by Market Basket, which opened Oct. 7. T.J. Maxx, Staples and Santander Bank also are in operation. Five Below is scheduled to open on Friday and other tenants will include PetSmart, 110 Grill, Qdoba Mexican Eats, One Dollar Zone, Ulta Beauty, Eblens and a liquor store.

Colorado Springs-based Picture Show Entertainment’s 11-screen, 50,000-square-foot Picture Show complex is equipped leather electric luxury reclining seats, wall-to-wall high-definition screens and digital projection and sound systems. A smaller theater complex at the New Harbour Mall closed in 2007.
