The national rent index fell 0.1 percent between August and September of this year, the first month-over-month decrease in 2017, according to a report released yesterday by Apartment List Rentonomics.

Year-over-year, rents increased 2.8 percent in September 2017, up from 2.2 percent in September 2016.

In Boston rents were up .02 percent month over month, and up .08 percent for the year.

“Despite the seasonal slowdown, rents are still up year-over-year in 90 of the 100 largest cities,” according to the report.
