The Student Center for Jackson Walnut Park Schools in Newton has been completed by Acella Construction Corp. The project broke ground last June and is located at 55 Walnut Park.

The 10,346-square-foot center features a new gym, theatrical stage, culinary kitchen and classrooms. It also has outdoor classroom and playground space with all new landscaping across the school’s campus.

Acella Construction worked with Ai3 Architects of Wayland, engineering company Pare Corp. of Lincoln, Rhode Island, engineering company Griffith & Vary Inc. of Wareham and Traverse Landscape Architects of Providence, Rhode Island. The project manager was Kevin Hines of Hines Project Management of North Falmouth.

“It’s always satisfying to see a project come to fruition and we are particularly proud that we were involved in one that will benefit students and faculty in a myriad of ways,” Dave Dirubbo, president of Acella Construction Corp., said in a statement.  “And we are delighted that the new space complements the school’s historic landmark building – an 1867 Second Empire mansion – with a contemporary design that promotes 21st century learning.”
