A Newton Highlands restaurant has reopened less than a year after a fire caused $250,000 in damage to the property owned by The Hamilton Co. of Allston.

The May 29 blaze damaged the kitchen of Buttonwood restaurant at 51 Lincoln St. just four months after its opening, and resulted in smoke and water damage to other sections of the restaurant.

The Hamilton Co. acquired the property in 2007 for $6.5 million.

Hamilton hired Saugus-based T&C Construction as general contractors to perform the renovations to the kitchen and bathrooms, new mechanical and HVAC equipment and finishes. Owned by Shane Smyth and David Punch, Buttonwood updated its “Mediterranean-inspired American food” selections during the project.

The Hamilton Co. owns 2 million square feet of commercial space and 5,600 multifamily housing units in Greater Boston.
