The first retail tenant at the Suffolk Downs redevelopment is a North Shore brewery that will occupy ground-floor space in the first building nearing completion across from the MBTA’s Beachmont station.

Twisted Fate Brewing will open next spring in a 2,000-square-foot space at the 475-unit Amaya apartment building, developer HYM Investment Group announced.

Amaya, located at the northern end of the 161-acre former racetrack property, contains 24,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space being leased by Blackline Retail Group of Newton. The retail space opens onto a common area which will partially be occupied by a dog park, and where developer HYM plans to host food truck events, HYM Vice President of Development Abby Middleton said last week.

The taproom and 400-square-foot seasonal patio will offer food and craft beers brewed by Twisted Fate, a family-owned brewery that opened its original location two years ago in Danvers.

The first phase of the Amaya building opened in June. The building is 20 percent leased at rents of nearly $5 per square foot, according to HYM, and the complex is marketing entry-level studios starting from $2,425 per month.
