Woburn-based Northern Bank opened a new branch in Stoneham this week, the bank’s 13th branch in Middlesex County.

The bank said in a statement that it decided to open the new office at 240 Main St. because of Northern Bank’s existing ties with Stoneham’s business community.

“We look forward to expanding our relationships with the people and businesses of Stoneham,” Jim Mawn, president and CEO of Northern Bank, said in the statement. “We’ve been serving Stoneham businesses and residents at our Woburn and Melrose locations for decades and everyone here is excited to redouble our commitment to the Stoneham community with a location here.”

Northern Bank said the new office incorporates a modern design and functionality that the bank plans to use in new branches and when building out existing offices.

The bank said it is offering exclusive rates and savings on certain products and services to Stoneham residents and businesses, and to celebrate the grand opening, Northern Bank over the next year will give one Stoneham business and one resident a gift card from local businesses each month.

Northern Bank was founded in 1960 and has about $2.6 billion in assets.
