A 114,000-square-foot fitness center will open in 2020 at Peabody’s Northshore mall, the next chapter in a series of updates to the 1.1-million-square-foot property.

Life Time fitness will develop its fifth location in Greater Boston at the Simon Property Group center. The 3-story building will include lap and leisure pools, whirlpools and a bistro, studio and training areas, café, spa and Kids Academy.

Other highlights include studio and training areas, a full-service LifeCafe, a full-service LifeSpa, and a Kids Academy for children from three months to 11 years old, which will include a host of classes designed to foster healthy habits from an early age including physical activities, arts and crafts, and language.

Northshore mall also is adding The Promenade, a renovated section of the center including seating, landscaping and outdoor stage and a new crop of restaurants, including recent arrivals Bancroft & Co., Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill and Caffe Nero. Amigo’s Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar opens this fall.
