The Friendship Home in Norwell has received a $2,000 Housing and Homeless Assistance Grant from the Massachusetts Association of Realtors Charitable Foundation.

Nominated to receive the grant by the Plymouth and South Shore Association of Realtors (PASS) Community Service Committee, the Friendship Home was selected based on its initiatives to provide quality respite, support services and other programs to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families within Massachusetts, according to a statement.

"The association and many of its members have had a long relationship with the Friendship Home and we personally know how important their work is," said PASS Association President Marcia Solberg, of Macdonald and Wood Sotheby’s International Realty in Duxbury. "It is because of their commitment that we are honored to present this grant to help the Friendship Home to continue to meet its mission of serving people with pervasive developmental disabilities and their families."

PASS is able to nominate housing or homeless assistance charity organizations from its jurisdictional area for a monetary grant from the foundation. Grants are awarded in the spring and fall of each calendar year. The deadline for the fall 2011 funding round is Oct. 1.
