It also completed the opening of its Waltham branch at 1030 Main St., but filed to close a former First Republic branch in downtown Boston at 160 Federal St.

Briana Curran, Chase’s vice president for US regional communications, said customers of the closing downtown Boston branch can be serviced by its other branches nearby, which in Post Office Square at 81 Milk St. and Downtown Crossing at 425 Washington St.

She also noted that the Brockton branch will be opening in May, while the Ashland branch is still awaiting OCC approval.

“We are always listening to our customers and identifying the best places for our branches based on their needs. We are very excited to continue growing our branch network around Massachusetts including in Brockton, New Bedford and Lowell, as well as in South Boston and Brighton later this year,” Curran said.

Bank of America, for its part, is moving to open a Cambridge branch at 212 Hampshire St., and has completed closing its Braintree branch at 250 Granite St., which was a part of its planned branch and ATM closures in Massachusetts last year.
