The complete renovation and expansion of Tufts University’s Packard Hall has been completed and will house the school’s political science department.

The 10,800-square-foot Packard Hall is the second-oldest building on Tufts’ Medford campus, and has been used in the past as a dormitory, dining hall, library, an office building and even an animal barn, according to Waltham contractor Linbeck, which completed the renovation project.

The project involved the reconfiguration of all architectural spaces in the building and installation of new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. An addition to Packard Hall provides elevator service and an additional egress stair for the building, and connects through a link to the building on each of its four floors.
