Portland, Oregon-based developer Gerding Edlen has opened its first Boston office at 177 Huntington Ave. in Back Bay as it expands its local operations.

Gerding Edlen entered the Boston market in 2012 with redevelopment of the Factory 63 lofts in Fort Point and developed the nearby 315 on A apartment tower, Troy Boston in the South End and The Eddy apartment tower on the East Boston waterfront. In December, it acquired the Neponset Landing apartment complex in North Quincy for $89.5 million.

Beatrice Thevenot has been named director of asset management for the East Coast and Midwest markets and will be based in the new Boston office.

Along with its Portland headquarters, Gerding Edlen has a regional office in San Francisco.
