A coalition of real estate industry trade groups is planning a gala to honor the first responders to the Boston Marathon bombings. The event will take place on Sept. 11 at Jillian’s in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston.
The gala will feature three local comedians as well as speeches from Roseann Sdoia, a survivor of the bombing and a vice president at National Development, and Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Davis will also accept an award on behalf of all first responders.
All of the proceeds from sponsorships, raffles and ticket sales will go to the Boston Police Foundation.
Planning Committee member Nancy Reno, vice president of Quincy-based Housing Management Resources Inc., will serve as MC.
"The event will spotlight ‘real life heroes’ while raising funds for the Boston Police Foundation," Reno said in a statement. "We want to give back, so we’re coming together to honor police, fire and other first responders from Boston, Cambridge, Watertown, Belmont and other communities who joined forces to capture the bombers – and who are always there for us."
Event organizers and sponsors include the New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA), the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston, Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) / Boston Chapter, International Facility Management Association (IFMA) / Boston Chapter, Citizens’ Housing And Planning Association (CHAPA), Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB), United States Green Building Council (USGBC / MA) and the New England Real Estate Journal. Cambridge Savings Bank is also an event sponsor and is collecting donations and ticket proceeds.
