The Boston Red Sox’s owner dropped $25 million on a Nantucket compound Friday, according to documents filed in the Nantucket Registry of Deeds.
An LLC registered to John Henry at a Boca Raton, Florida address purchased 4 Middle Valley Road from a Florida LLC registered to Palm Beach philanthropist Donald Burns. The property was assessed at $24.98 million, according to town records.
The Nantucket Current was the first to report the sale. Maury People Sotheby’s International Realty had the listing.
The 11,057-square-foot home and 4,488-square-foot guest house were built by Burns in 2017 to a design by internationally-known architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen to evoke a cluster of small cottages.
The 4-acre property also includes a long lap pool and a tennis court with viewing pavilion, and the main house is oriented to the northeast to maximize sunset views over Nantucket Sound. The home was featured in Architectural Digest upon its construction.
The property contains 10 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, according to public records.
The sale won’t be the most expensive on Nantucket this year, as a 6,655-square-foot house on 1.22 acres at 21 Lincoln Ave. recently traded hands for $36 million, according to public records.
