A Salem developer has sold a grocery-anchored shopping center in Andover to a California investor for $53.5 million.

The 12.6-acre property at 209 North Main St. includes a 102,631-square-foot shopping center known as Shawsheen Plaza completed in 1959.

The seller, Guys of Andover LLC, is an affiliate of Salem-based Centercorp Retail Properties, which paid $12.7 million for the property in 2008, according to Essex County Registry of Deeds records.

The latest transaction on Aug. 19 received $85 million in mortgage financing from Ameris Bank.

The buyer, Pasadena-based Exchangeright Essential, specializes in acquisitions of net-leased and value-add portfolios for Delaware Statutory Trust 1031 exchanges.
