A listing for Scituate beach house has caught a wave of attention online this week thanks to an unusual quality: It’s literally on the beach.

On its vital statistics alone, 14 Stanton Lane would seem to be an attractive, if relatively normal waterfront property. Its 1,674 square feet, three bedrooms and two bathrooms on just shy of 1 acre offers plenty of elbow room. The hipped-roof, single-family Colonial boasts ductless mini-splits for heating and cooling and a recent and tasteful renovation.

It even boasts dramatic ocean views from most rooms, pictures on the listing from FC Realty Group’s Colleen Healy attest. But that’s also because it and its neighbors sit on stilts above a Scituate beach.

It’s this last quality that got real estate fans on Twitter buzzing.

The account Zillow Gone Wild first spotted it Wednesday, saying it was “[n]ot sure if this is scary or amazing.” Other accounts, including WBZ meteorologist Eric Fisher were flabbergasted. Boston.com first reported on the frenzy of interest in the property.

The asking price for the 1979 home is $929,999.
