A senior housing specialist has acquired the 7.8-acre former Newbury College campus in Brookline for $34 million.

Welltower, a Toledo, Ohio-based real estate investment trust, completed the acquisition following a seven-month disposition process.

The campus includes eight dorms, offices and academic buildings totaling 142,000 square feet and was marketed as a potential redevelopment opportunity within a 10-minute walk of four MBTA stations.

Colliers International’s Boston office represented the college in the sale and received widespread interest, the brokerage said.

“We enjoyed working side-by-side with Newbury College in vetting potential buyers of the campus and ultimately deciding on the one whose intentions best aligned with the College’s goals,” Colliers Senior Vice President Christopher Sower said in a statement.
