Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction has completed a renovation project to the Massachusetts Historical Society building at 1154 Boylston St.
The 1898 building houses some of the nation’s notable historical documents, including Paul Revere’s handwritten account of his ride, all of which remained in place during the work. Shawmut restored the limestone balustrades and renovated the exterior and updated the facade.
Shawmut has been MHS’ general contractor since 2000. Shawmut’s past historic preservation work includes the Mary Baker Eddy House in Chestnut Hill and African Meeting House in Boston.
