More than $14,000 in pledged donations from individuals and companies has helped mitigate the setback that South Shore Habitat for Humanity’s Stoughton project was dealt when thieves vandalized the property and stole tools and equipment.
"We are so thankful to all who have come forward to help, said Martine Taylor, executive director for South Habitat for Humanity. "Thanks to the extensive media coverage we have received, the phones have not stopped ringing with offers to help, including offers for volunteering, skilled construction labor, tool donations, alarm company support and both individual and corporate financial pledges. The outpouring of support is remarkable."
The organization now has the necessary volunteer labor lined up to finish the home in Stoughton and has received enough money to pay for the tools that were stolen. However, Taylor is still receiving requests on how to help. The best way to support us now is to make donations payable to South Shore Habitat and note "Stoughton" with your gift. All monies received will be allocated to the completion of this home and moving the family in as soon as possible.
The following organizations contributed their financial support:
Arbella Charitable Foundation – $5,000
Eastern Bank – $5,000
Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers Inc. – $500
Individual Donations – $3,995 (Names not mentioned for privacy)
South Shore Habitat wishes to thank the following for their in-kind donations:
