The MacDuffie School, a 120-year-old boarding and day school in Springfield, has been acquired by a group of private investors.
International EC LLC bought the property on Ames Hill Drive. A sale price was not disclosed. The Massachusetts Attorney General approved the purchase transaction on Dec. 23.
The newly acquired entity will retain its name and move to a renovated, expansive campus in Granby in September 2011, according to a statement.
Led by newly appointed Headmaster Brian Chatterley, the school will have a renewed focus on its international student base while showcasing renovated dormitories, advanced teaching technology and upgraded facilities, according to a statement.
"This is a new beginning for an institution with a long-standing academic and cultural history. By introducing a transformed and expanded MacDuffie School next fall, we are providing a modernized environment for focused learning, exploration and development. This, coupled with our dynamic campus and offerings will provide a solid base for MacDuffie programs for years to come," said Chatterley.
