The state recently announced $50,000 in funding to help cities and towns across the state meet federal requirements for managing stormwater.

Central Massachusetts Stormwater Collaborative will receive the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) grant to provide training and technical assistance to communities to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new requirements of the MS4 stormwater permit, expected to be issued later this month.

“This grant is a further commitment of our administration’s support for towns across the commonwealth to meet new challenges in the most effective ways possible,” Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement. “This funding helps a coalition of municipalities with a proven track record of coming together to find innovative approaches to meeting regulatory requirements.”

The Central Massachusetts Regional Stormwater Coalition is comprised of a group of more than 30 communities whose mission is to address municipal stormwater management and provide tools for towns to use, including educational materials, best management practice inventories, mapping help and templates.
