The Massachusetts secretary of state’s office has said it will review the incorporation papers of a proposed $650 million movie studio in Plymouth to ensure the company has clear ownership.

The inquiry comes just a week after a $550 million financing plan with a Florida company fell through, and as some town officials are questioning the future of the Plymouth Rock Studios project that was expected to create thousands of jobs.

Lawrence Rosenblum, a member of Plymouth’s planning board, tells The Boston Globe that developers haven’t been completely up front about financial and business information as it pursued zoning changes and generous tax breaks in town.

Other town officials, including Board of Selectman Chairman Dick Quintal, say they still support the project. (AP)
