The third development project by Stonegate Group in Natick is transforming a former parochial school property with construction of apartments and townhouses with restaurant and retail space.

The Natick developer acquired the former St. Patrick’s School in 2015. Nauset Construction broke ground this month on the project, which will include 46 apartments, four townhomes and a 14,000-square-foot ground-floor restaurant and retail space.

Designed by Boston-based Finegold Alexander Architects, the 89,500-square-foot project was approved by Natick officials under a “friendly Chapter 40B” process that resulted in a 25 percent affordable housing component, or 14 apartments. Completion is scheduled for spring 2025.

Founded in 1988, Stonegate has developed over $190 million in residential and mixed-use properties and manages over 750,000 square feet of commercial and residential real estate. In addition to the St. Patrick’s project, Stonegate has completed redevelopments of the former American Legion building at 13 West Central St. and the Odd Fellows building at 11 South Main St.

They Said It:

“I knew from the start that this project was going to be a unique opportunity for the town of Natick, and it certainly has been. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this project will re-invigorate this section of Route 135 as we enter Natick Center.”
— Natick Town Administrator Jamie Errickson
