Street-Works LLC, master developer of New Quincy Center, has entered into an alliance with Boston-based Suffolk Construction in the $1.4 billion private-public reconstruction of the historic center.
The Street-Works plan will create a revitalized downtown neighborhood with a new residential community, new office space focused on wellness, education and corporate users large and small, two new hotels, and an appropriate venue for selected new larger-format retailer tenants to complement the smaller street-level retailers that drive the sense of vitality and place.
"Suffolk exhibits all of the strengths and priorities we think are crucial, particularly in the successful execution of a project as complex as the New Quincy Center master development plan," said Street-Works co-founding partner Kenneth Narva. "This alliance with Suffolk is a joining together of the successful track records and experience of two firms positioned to help realize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity before us."
"There are many aspects of the New Quincy Center project that make it an incredible opportunity for Suffolk, including the importance of this project to Quincy, the exciting design, and the chance to work with a developer and administration committed to creating an outstanding urban space," said Fish, president and CEO of Suffolk Construction. "We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of this team and to play a critical role in making the vision for this project a reality."
A recent study found the project will boost the city’s property tax revenues by $10 million per year and will generate 4,222 construction jobs in Quincy and 7,240 total direct and indirect construction jobs in the state. The project will create 4,560 permanent jobs, the study found.
