Boston-based construction giant Suffolk has hired a former Skanska USA development executive to lead its real estate investment arm.

Previously the head of commercial development for Skanska USA, Charley Leatherbee is the new president of Suffolk Ventures, which invests in development projects, Suffolk announced this week.

The firm also announced the appointment of a pair of executives from Related Cos. and Turner Construction Co. to lead two other divisions

Mike Trovini will lead Suffolk’s self-perform unit, following a role as senior advisor on Related Cos.’ projects including Hudson Yards in Manhattan.

And Kevin Sharkey was named executive vice president of national business development, following a 35-year career at Turner.

“The real estate and construction industry continues to change rapidly. Rather than simply react to these changes, Suffolk has undergone an exciting expansion and re-invention that will position us for future success and growth,” Suffolk CEO John Fish said in a statement.
