Arson investigators were called to an Allston apartment development after a suspicious device was discovered early Friday.
The Indie complex at 35-43 Braintree St. is scheduled to open in early 2024, according to its web site.
Boston firefighters and the arson squad arrived at the property shortly before 8 a.m., WCVB-TV reported, after contractors discovered a device protruding from floorboards on the sixth floor. The device was removed and work resumed before noon.
Developed by Jones Street Investment Partners of Boston, the complex overlooking the Massachusetts Turnpike contains 147 apartments as small as 329 square feet. It was approved under Boston’s since-suspended compact living policy, which encouraged smaller living unit sizes in exchange for larger common areas to encourage affordability.
The property’s web site had promoted an October opening and offer of three months free rent, but recently was updated with the early 2024 completion date.
The project received a building permit in April 2022, and $40.3 million in construction financing from Cambridge Savings Bank in July 2022.
