Shawmut Design and Construction has appointed Roland Tang to director of business development.

In his new role, Tang will be tasked with establishing new relationships and reinforcing Shawmut’s current partnerships in the academic sector.

"With more than 25 years in the industry, Roland has a proven track record of successfully building and strengthening relationships with New England’s elite academic institutions," said William Hughes, president. "Roland is an outstanding addition to our business development team, and will play a key role in Shawmut’s continued growth."

He previously served as director of business development at Erland Construction. In that time, he cultivated relationships with many of the region’s premier academic institutions, including Brandeis University, Springfield College, St. Mark’s School, St. Sebastian’s School, and Beaver Country Day School. He has also served as director of business development at ADD Inc., and as marketing director at Ann Beha Architects.
