In an effort to further boost its business districts, the city of Marlborough could create a shuttle service connecting them to the commuter rail station in Southborough, one town to the south.

The Worcester Business Journal reports Mayor Arthur Vigeant has asked the city council for $200,000 to pay for the service.

The service would start with a 12-passenger, handicap-accessible van that would run from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., making three runs each during the morning and evening rush hours and serving seniors during the times in between. The shuttle would be free to riders.
