After missing its Dec. 31 deadline to finish its work, the task force Gov. Maura Healey created to recommend transportation funding reforms will hold its final meeting Tuesday.

The panel will gather at the State Transportation Building, located at 10 Park Plaza in Boston, at 12:30 p.m., an administration spokesperson confirmed.

Like the group’s earlier meetings, the final session will be closed to the public and press.

Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll plan to stop by the meeting to express their gratitude to task force members, Executive Office for Administration and Finance spokesperson Matt Murphy said.

Driscoll has said the panel features “some of the top minds in transportation from across the public and private sectors.”

Officials do not expect the panel to file its report immediately at the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting. Murphy said the group will likely express additional feedback that will then need to be incorporated into the document.

Healey created the panel via a Jan. 24, 2024 executive order and gave it a Dec. 31, 2024 deadline to submit recommendations for a “long-term, sustainable transportation finance plan.”

The recommendations could trigger debate on Beacon Hill this year, especially as the MBTA prepares to grapple with a roughly $700 million budget gap in the fiscal year that starts July 1.

“We need to come up with ways to pay for improving our infrastructure, both roads, bridges, public transportation,” Senate President Karen Spilka said during an appearance on WCVB’s “On The Record” program on Sunday.

Healey will deliver her annual State of the Commonwealth address on Jan. 16, and she must file a fiscal 2026 state budget bill by Jan. 22.
