The Urban Land Institute (ULI) will hold its Trends in Real Estate Forum at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center on Jan. 31 to discuss Boston’s changing urban landscape and what those changes in office, housing and retail options mean for the city and its suburbs.
The 2013 forum will include demographer James Chung, a founder of the predictive analytics research firm Reach Advisors, and a familiar source for NPR, The Wall Street Journal and network television. He will interpret data on where people prefer to work and live, how online shopping impacts street-side retail and if Generation Y will move to the suburbs.
Jones Lang LaSalle CEO Colin Dyer will offer insights on how Boston’s Med/Ed economy and the power of its creative class help fuel international investment appeal.
Charles River Realty President Brian Kavoogian, who recently completed fundraising for a $1.5 billion fund, will share his perspective on investing in the full spectrum of Boston real estate, from housing and hotels to research labs and retail.
ULI Senior Resident Fellow Maureen McAvey, an expert in urban retail development, will break down the development and demographic trends that are driving the new economy.
Acquisition Specialist Michael Byrne of AEW will explore why firms are investing in Boston and how it compares with other markets.
