The University of Massachusetts Lowell is set to break ground on a $70 million building for developing new technologies.
Gov. Deval Patrick is among the dignitaries scheduled to join Chancellor Marty Meehan on Tuesday for the ceremony marking the start of construction on the school’s 84,000-square-foot Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center.
It will bring together experts from across campus and the region dedicated to the pursuit of advancing technologies for economic growth.
The university hopes to raise another $10 million to $15 million in private donations for laboratories and equipment.
When complete, the building will serve as a gateway to North Campus. (AP)
