Greenwich construction and heavy equipment rental company United Rentals has secured a lucrative contract in neighboring Massachusetts to serve as the sole-source equipment rental provider for state agencies through 2012.
The contract, available for use by all executive agencies in the Commonwealth, comes with an optional extension, the company said.
United Rentals also won a similar contract in Texas. The Texas deal is a shared contract for equipment rentals provided through 2012 and administered via the state’s Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), a nationwide purchasing cooperative available to all units of local government and non-profits.
"We are extremely pleased to have been selected to perform under these two contracts, which give us an opportunity to strengthen our existing relationships with state and local governments and expand the range of agencies we support," Robert Caudle, director of government solutions for United Rentals, said in a statement. "We place a high value on these partnerships and are prepared to serve them with an expert understanding of government needs. In recent months, government agencies across the country have been increasingly relying on our Government Solutions expertise to assist them in their implementation of projects related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Our vast equipment resources and national branch footprint enable us to provide solutions to government customers in virtually any locale."
