Vacancy is rising in rental properties around the suburban Boston market while the asking price continues to drop, according to a new report from GVA Thompson Hennessey & Partners.

The availability rate rose to 16.6 percent from 14.3 percent earlier this year. The sublease market has also had an influx of available space and reports 19.5 percent availability, the report reads.

The asking price for renters dropped from $22.15 per square foot to $22.74 per square foot since January, the report shows.

Market analysts expect the trend to continue into next year. Tenants hesitant to make major real estate decisions will choose instead to sign short-term deals or extend options, according to the report.
