A Cambridge biotech that begins trials next year on a self-administered vaccine technology has opened a new GMP manufacturing facility in Woburn with immediate expansion plans.

Vaxess Technologies will occupy 10,000 square feet at 30 Cummings Park as it gears up to begin phase one trials in early 2022.

The 3,600-square-foot facility includes cleanrooms for manufacturing of vaccine patches, along with a planned 6,300-square-foot expansion for GMP and lab space at 11 Cummings Park.

Vaxess is developing an intradermal microneedle technology designed for self-administration of vaccines and boosters for seasonal flu and COVID-19. The firm has received funding from the National Institutes for Health and the Gates Foundation, and MIT’s The Engine venture venture capital firm.

Cummings Properties business development director Al Diamond represented ownership in the lease negotiations with Vaxess, which was represented by Cresa’s Paul Delaney and John Coakley.
