Online furniture vendor Wayfair has signed a lease for a new call center in its CEO’s hometown.

The company said Friday that it’s leased 40,000 square feet at 75 South Church St. in Pittsfield. Approximately 300 customer service representatives and managers will occupy the space in the third quarter.

The Berkshires location is part of an economic stimulus package signed between Boston-based Wayfair and the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council last year. Wayfair got $31.4 million in tax breaks in exchange for creation of 3,000 jobs in Boston and Pittsfield. The company recently leased 300,000 square feet at 10 Saint James Ave. in Back Bay, in an expansion of its existing headquarters operations at 500 Boylston-222 Berkeley St.

CEO Nirah Shah grew up in Pittsfield and said at the time that the company explored several locations in Pittsfield and surrounding communities.

Wayfair last week reported 2018 revenues of $6.7 billion, up nearly 45 percent from the previous year.
