Boston-based online home furnishings giant Wayfair will test its brick-and-mortar expansion at three Bay State retail properties in 2022.
Wayfair will open AllModern-format stores at WS Development’s MarketStreet Lynnfield and Legacy Place in Dedham, and a Joss & Main store at the Simon Property Group-owned Burlington Mall.
The retailer, which has $14 billion in annual revenues, plans to open additional brick-and-mortar stores for all five of its brands over the next two years, including the Wayfair, Birch Lane and Perigold brands.
Both of the newly announced store formats will offer furniture, bedding, bath and seasonal items.
Wayfair opened a small concept store at the Natick Mall in its first brick-and-mortar foray in 2019, and closed that location at the end of 2020.
“We’re embarking on this next phase of physical retail experimentation by establishing multiple formats for our family of brands. We’ll take the time to test into the winning format and then scale as we’ve done before with other initiatives,” Wayfair CEO Niraj Shah said in a conference call last month to discuss the company’s third-quarter earnings.
