Worcester-based Webster First Federal Credit Union and Merrimac-based Louise Mills Federal Credit Union announced yesterday that the two institutions will merge, effective today.

The one-branch, $10 million asset Louise Mills Federal Credit Union will become Louise Mills, a division of Webster First Federal Credit Union, which has more than $900 million in assets and more than 67,000 members.

The deal continues Webster’s shopping spree; the credit union has since 2011 completed mergers with Saugus Federal, Fitchburg Federal, Winthrop Federal, Filene Federal and Industrial Credit Unions.

“We look forward to combining the two credit unions and strengthening our presence in the Merrimac market,” Webster First President and CEO Michael Lussier said in a statement.
