Williams College in Williamstown has received a pair of bonds from MassDevelopment to significantly expand its science wing.
The funds, totaling more than $104.6 million, will go toward demolishing an existing science center and replacing it with two new fully equipped facilities. The new structures will contain 77,000 and 101,000 square feet of space, which will include lab spaces, faculty offices and classrooms.
Additionally, the school will renovate its Morley Scientific Laboratory and Thompson Physical Library, and expand its Schow Science Library.
Williams will also refinance past debt with the proceeds.
“The science center at Williams College will offer students a breadth of resources in STEM learning, from state-of-the-art research labs to an expanded science library,” MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones said in a statement. “We are pleased to support the college and other exceptional higher education institutions across the commonwealth as they improve and expand their campuses.”
