With the acquisition of Halvorson Design, land use consultant Tighe & Bond is expanding its presence in Boston.

The engineering and environmental consulting firm now has 11 offices in the northeastern U.S. including the Halvorson Tighe & Bond Studio at 25 Kingston St. in downtown Boston. The integration of the two firms will expand their services in landscape architecture, land use planning and waterfront resiliency, and give Halvorson Design access to a larger client base including institutional and government projects, the firms announced Thursday.

Halvorson Design was founded in 1980 and provides landscape architecture, site planning and urban design services. The firm will continue to operate under its existing brand name, with the firm’s current executives and employees remaining at the Kingston Street location.

“As the engineering industry continues to evolve toward more complete solutions, expanding our landscape architecture capabilities became a clear objective in order to better meet client needs,” Tighe & Bond CEO Bob Belitz said in a statement.
