Allston donut shop Twin Donuts will undergo its first major renovation in half a century this summer.  

Building owner The Hamilton Co., which purchased the 3,212-square-foot property at 501 Cambridge St. for $250,000 in 1985, will spend nearly that amount on renovations to the building in the coming months. Smara Tilkin, the architect on the project, said the new façade "will have a very retro-1950s feel to it," which she described as "MiMo," meaning Miami Modern. The renovations will begin this summer.

Twin Donuts is operated by Sou Pang, who bought the business from the previous owners with her late husband in 2001.

The restoration project coincides with The Hamilton Co.’s upcoming 60th anniversary. Since its founding in 1954, The Hamilton Co. has amassed more than $1 billion in assets.
