The Asian American Civic Association Inc. (AACA) will purchase its headquarters in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood.
The company will use a $2.5 million tax-exempt bond from MassDevelopment to buy the 13,242 square-foot condominium unit it currently leases. The space is spread across three floors, two of which are used for office and classroom space, and one for a daycare.
“For almost 50 years, the Asian American Civic Association has welcomed and assisted the Massachusetts immigrant community,” MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones said in a statement.“ MassDevelopment is pleased to support AACA as it purchases the building space needed to continue its integral work here in the commonwealth.”
The AACA, active since 1967, provides services to limited English-speaking and economically disadvantaged people. At its headquarters, the organization offers English classes, social services, job training, college preparation and a post-graduate retention program.
