Avison Young is seeking a new leader for its Boston office following the departure of John Dolan after two years as managing director.

The Toronto-based commercial brokerage said it has named Josh Peyton, regional managing director of its East region, as the interim leader of its Boston office.

In a LinkedIn post, Dolan thanked his colleagues and said he is actively exploring new professional opportunities.

Dolan joined Avison Young as a partner in 2021 and was named to Avison Young’s top New England post in April 2023, succeeding Thomas Collins.

The Scituate native previously worked for the former Colliers Meredith & Grew and McCall & Almy, and is a former president of the Commercial Brokers Association.

Dolan concentrated on the landlord representation in the suburban Route 128 market at Meredith & Grew, before joining the tenant-focused McCall & Almy. The firm was acquired by Newmark in 2022.

“John Dolan has played a pivotal role in enhancing the firm’s service capabilities across New England and in strengthening our presence in the market,” Avison Young said in a statement.

Avison Young has begun a comprehensive search for a permanent market leader to guide its growth strategy in the region, the firm announced.

The firm restructured its debt in 2024 after defaulting on payments in late 2023.
