BB grand openingBerkshire Bank has opened a new branch and regional headquarters in Westborough.

Bank executives and the community members on Nov. 20 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 10,000-square-foot facility at 303 Turnpike Road, the site of a former Friendly’s restaurant.

The full-service branch features the bank’s teller pod design, which aims to provide more personalized service, faster transactions, improved accuracy and enhanced security. Amenities include a community room that offers individuals and community organizations a free meeting hub, as well an America’s Most Exciting Bank Café for customers visiting the branch.

At the grand opening ceremony, the bank announced a $10,000 donated to four community non-profit organizations – the YMCA, Boys and Girls Club Metro-West, Westborough Food Pantry and Westborough High School Robotics. On Dec. 6, the branch will host a Family Day event with giveaways, games, food and free photos with Santa.

"The new Westborough center was designed with our customers in mind – it is a contemporary banking experience and an excellent next step in our growth here in Eastern Massachusetts," Tami Gunsch, senior vice president of retail banking, said in a statement.  "Offering the full gamut of financial services, our new financial headquarters and branch delivers the highest quality service and responsiveness to customers.  The design of the facility is conducive to personal engagement with our customers-even during the busiest moments."
